Count Down to Travel

One more day and the packing has begun in earnest.   Fred is doing a few more M&M errands and I will mow the lawn and water before we leave Tacoma.    I loaded this picture of Tacoma from the city website, and I do say that I am starting from a pretty spectacular spot in the first place.   I tend to forget that Mt. Rainer is right behind me every day.  We fly off at noon on Sunday but arrive in Amsterdam at 7:00 a.m Monday morning.  ( Now that is a long time in the air.)

Google provided the Amsterdam cathedral on the right.   I hope to take my own pictures, but my guess is the only picture that I will be able to provide for this blog will be the inside of the Amsterdam airport.  It is only a quick stop and only a layover to Milan, Italy.   Two hours is a long time, but since my body clock will be thinking that it is around 3am , my shot will no doubt include one or both of us sprawled in an airport chair close to the gate to Milan.

The first of what I hope to be many exciting events for me on the trip  is that I hope to get my first stamp in an 8 year old passport. I have traveled (some) but the Mexican and Canadian borders don't seem to need the official act of actually putting a stamp on your passport as you go into or leave the country.   It has been most disappointing.

Again, this is a Google shot of Milan.   I hope that my next post will include a shot taken with my new camera, in person with lifetime memories.    ( Did I tell you that I took a beginners camera class today. ) I had hoped to get more about the camera itself and how to run it, but we ended up talking a lot about the theory of how to take pictures and what a photographer should try to do.  This included shutting off all the automatic things this lovely camera does.  Well, I think I will take a quick auto picture...... and then play with all the other buttons.   I would like to have one clear picture of places I have never seen before.   Until the next time I find a computer and can update
